Dolly Parton, born Jan. 19, 1946 in Locust Ridge Tenn. to a family of 12 poor kids who would grow with them eventually. She learned young how to overcome of difficulties by using her rich and vivid imagination. She was writing songs before she was able to write or read. After 8 years of age, she had her very first guitar. At age 11 when she was 11, she began singing at the Knoxville Tennessee radio station. The following year, Gold Band Records was a small independent record label. At the age of 16, she established herself in the local community, however her ambition was bigger. In the exact day that she graduated the high school in 1964. The first charting record she had on Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner, a syndicated TV show host at the time was searching for a singer for his program. Parton accepted the role in the year 1966. She she joined RCA Records in 1968, and the Grand Ole Opry was founded in the year 1969. The show ended in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were charting collaborations with them. Parton wrote I Will Always Love You for Wagoner in the aftermath of their breakup. It reached number one. Its first appearance at the top spot was in 1974.
