Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington, a Greek American businesswoman and syndicated journalist is an author. She is a founder of The Huffington Post and the chief executive officer of Thrive Global. Author of over 15 books. Arianna Huffington is a writer, philanthropist, television personality as well as the proprietor of the independently liberal online news magazine The Huffington Post. Her move to Greece to England aged 16 where she received an MA from Cambridge University in Economics. She was the first student who was not from the UK to serve as president of The Cambridge Union at the age 21. In the years following after her college graduation, she was a prominent conservative syndicated journalist. In the years later, she founded The Huffington Post which featured critiques of the current political scene. She was able to get several prominent contributors who posted their opinions regarding politics and culture. Arianna's celebrity status started in 2003, after she declared herself an independent candidate for the California recall vote in order to replace then-Governor Davis. In addition, she was the leader of a Detroit project to promote fuel efficient cars. Forbes listed her as the top female in the media industry in 2009. The newspaper was ranked as at 12th place on their list. The Guardian also included her to the list of 100 most influential media outlets in the year 2009. AOL bought The Huffington Post from AOL in the year 2011. In 2012, she became the head of the media division at AOL. The group included several AOL owned properties like Engadget AOL Style List and Patch Media. She was the daughter of journalist and management consultant Konstantinos as well as his spouse Elli Stasinopoulos. Even though she was close with her father, the relationship she had to her mom was the defining factor in the remainder of her life. In her earliest years she showed leadership abilities which are still widely admired. At the age of 16, she moved to Britain to pursue her studies and was enrolled in Girton College Cambridge. As a student, she joined the Cambridge Union, a college debate club. As the third woman president and first foreigner, she served as the head of the Cambridge Union. She graduated in 1972 with a master's degree in Economics. After her graduation she became a columnist, critic as well as a TV host. Her appearance in Face the music with Bernard Levin was also noteworthy. She began to write books, taking his help in editing.
